The Actor's Fund-The Actors Fund is a national human services organization that helps everyone – on stage and those behind the scenes – who works in entertainment and performing arts. As a safety net for those in need, crisis or transition, The Actors Fund provides comprehensive social services including counseling, crisis intervention and connections to local resources for personal, family or work related problems as well as emergency financial assistance for basic living necessities. The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation- The Emergency Assistance Program is intended to provide interim financial assistance to qualified artists whose needs are the result of an unforeseen, catastrophic incident, and who lack the resources to meet that situation. The Haven Foundation- The Haven Foundation is a national, nonprofit organization making grants to freelance writers and artists experiencing career- threatening illnessses, accident, natural disaster or other emergency or personal catastrophe. Max's Kansas City Project- The non-profit welcomes applications throughout the year to professionals in the creative arts. There are no deadlines. Funding is determined according to the individual's need and is disbursed in the form of a grant not to exceed $1000. The Mayer Foundation- Makes economic relief grants to needy individuals who are distressed or suffering as a result of poverty, low income or lack of financial resources, including as a result of natural or civil disasters, or from temporary impoverishment, loss of employment, death or incapacity of a family wage earner or damage to home and property; to provide health care to those who cannot afford health care or whose health insurance or financial resources are insufficient to cover medical needs. The U.S. Department of Labor Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA)- The U.S. Department of Labor is working with state and local governments in disaster areas and relief sites to issue disaster unemployment assistance for self-employed and newly employed artists who may not be eligible for unemployment insurance. Artists and/or musicians whose work was interrupted- loss os revenue, studio space, etc.- should contact their local Department of Labor office to begin the process to get disaster unemployment aid. The Authors League Fund- The Authors League Fund has been helping professional writers and dramatists who find themselves in financial need because of medical or health-related problems, temporary loss of income or other misfortune.The Fund gives open-ended, interest-free, no-strings-attached loans.
